One-Utensil Dishes
If you have a buffet, serve one-utensil dishes. It's much easier for your guests to eat off of their laps if they don't have to worry about using a knife and fork to consume their meals. Casseroles, stews, salads, and vegetable accompaniments are ideal. You can also serve satay or other foods on skewers such as tomatoes and mozzarella with basil leaves in between, vegetable kabobs, etc for convenience, both for the guests and the host(ess). Foods served on skewers often taste great at room temperature, an added benefit for buffets.
