For an Eclectic Potluck
For a truly diverse selection of foods, designate everyone to a specific region. (Indian, Japanese, French, Mediterranean, etc.) It's always interesting to see what others arrive with.
Potluck Dinner Parties
A great way to save money and have an eclectic selection of foods is to invite your friends over for dinner and ask everyone to bring a dish. I suggest being organized and assigning everyone a type of dish to bring, so you aren't overwhelmed with four desserts or something like that. (I have an ungrateful friend who constantly bitches because he expects everyone to bring all main dishes, but potlucks are supposed to be freestyle. More importantly, not everyone has the amino acids to break down foods without other accompaniments. For example, some people need rice or vegetables combined with chicken in order for the body to properly digest it. You never know how other peoples' bodies work, so I highly suggest a variety of food. Plus, people are more likely to enjoy it. Four types of chicken for someone who doesn't enjoy chicken isn't very logical or nutritious).
